~tummy tickling trivia~

The literacy rate in South India is 80% while the national literacy rate is 62.8%.

South India includes 5 major states Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Podi is a coarse powder mixture of ground dry spices that typically contains dried chilis, urad, chickpea, and sesame seeds. It’s traditionally used as a condiment on dosas and other South Indian dishes.

modern indian food

Chutnify first emerged to fill a glaring void in Berlin — to create a vibrant, inviting space where people could enjoy authentic Indian food. This journey brought a fleet of previously unknown superstar South Indian dishes to the city: crispy and light dosas, our specialty, filled with an array of curries and stews, from classic masala potatoes to fragrant ‘keema mattar’. Modern and unexpected dishes complement the dosas, such as the spicy and crispy ‘vada’, the complex and tangy ‘bombay bhel’, the truly addicting ‘samosa chaat’ topped with glimmering pomegranate seeds and the fluffy, puffy and chutney-absorbing ‘idlis.’ For those who want to try a bit of everything, our dazzling thalis offer a mixed platter of tastes and smells.

Our menu developed with a determined focus to share what is delicious and true about modern Indian cuisine. Testaments to the success of our concept are our three restaurants in the upbeat Prenzlauer Berg and trendy Neukölln districts of Berlin, as well as the hip Príncipe Real district in central Lisbon. Over time, we’ve built up a strong community while tending to the hunger pangs of our guests at the restaurant, catering clients and customers at Berlin-wide street food events.
